Monkey see, monkey do.

So I stayed up way to late last night watching a tv series on Netflix last night.  I’ve been watching the show Felicity.  I used to think I was missing out on so much as a child by not watching a lot of tv.  As I watch tv shows from the 90’s and the shows from the turn of the 21st century, I’ finding out I wasn’t missing out on too much.  I mean I watched the entire series of Melrose Place and i told myself that nothing much has changed in tv, except for the graphics and the quality of tv itself.   I came from a home in which we did not have cable or even local tv.  My parents encouraged us children to play outdoors, or use our minds to entertain ourselves.  As a child I hated to entertain myself, in fact I hated playing by myself.  My brothers and I didn’t hang out all that much because there were 5 of them and only one of me, and I think my mother didn’t want  us fighting with each other.  I mean if I had 6 children to attend to I would want as much peace in the house as much as possible, so I can understand her intentions, but I was honestly lonely and wished I had a sister to share my childhood .  Anyhow, tv was not a  huge priority in our house. We were busy with school, church, or 4-H activities. What makes this more fascinating my husband grew up in a very similar type of home and he too did not have much tv growing up as a young child .  In fact we both grew up on VHS cartoon tapes , trips to the video store in town,movies from the 50 and 60’s , older classic tv shows, and musicals.   I am grateful that we both experienced this because now that we have a family of our own we do the same with our children.  We. not only do we encourage our children to watch the older classics, but we also allow them to watch newer shows that are clean and wholesome.  We understand why our parents encouraged us to go out and play and use our minds that God gave us My children are getting older and they beginning to like more mature movies and shows.  I can’t wait til the day my daughter likes watching chick flicks and British Drama with me, and I am thinking my husband will enjoy the day he and his son can watch a good action adventure movie or comedy together.   It’s amazing how becoming a parent changes your view of things.

However the only thing my husband and I do differently then what I was used to when it comes to tv entertainment is that we have tons of video games we all enjoy playing.  Video games was a huge part of my husband’s childhood, so we have passed that a long to our children too.  I mean they don’t play obsessively but they do play video games more then I ever did as a child.

What an amazing and inspiring quote.  So what exactly does that mean to you?  For me it means I can either feel sorry for myself or live my life to the fullest and be content with how God created me.  I sometimes get very discouraged with being an Albino and with being legally blind.  I am not one to feel sorry for myself on a regular basis but I am human and yes, I do get discouraged because I can’t see as well as others.  However, there  are people out there that wish the only thing they had to deal with is being seeing impaired.  Quotes like the one I stated  above  reminds us of how grateful we should be and how we should make the best of our lives.What does it mean to make the best of ourselves?  To me it simply means to take what God has given you and use it for His Glory and Honor. I can only speak for myself,  however, there were times in my life when  I just didn’t think God could use me.  I had to realize that it was not me that could accomplish anything on my own, but only by God’s grace and mercy that I could do anything.   We are all in the same boat, just because I may not know what you may experience doesn’t mean that you are enduring more hardship then me.  It just means that each and everyone of us has a  different story to write, and fulfill.  We can either sit and stare at our life and never put anything in our  book of life, or we can go out and live our lives and accomplish things that not only please God, but also at the same time  be an encouragement to those around us.  We do not live our lives unto ourselves, we effect anyone we come within contact.  I am not an amazing person but I want to live an amazing life.  Therefore I will live my life brilliantly.  How about you?  Will you live your life brilliantly or just die fast? No one can make that choice for you, only you can.   So make the right one today.

My favorite computer game.

I am not a gamer but I do enjoy a few games here and there.  However, if I play a game and like it I play it for hours and hours until I beat it.  Lucky for me I do not play RTS games or RPG type of games because I would be stuck in front of the computer forever.  I am a little OC, and very task oriented.  I mean if I want to get something done, I do it until I get it done no matter what.No matter what sacrifices I have to make, it must get done.  Anyhow, I found out I enjoy puzzle games the most.  I love playing the following games on Facebook.  I enjoy bejeweled blitz, Zuma blitz, and angry birds.  I am currently working on angry birds and I am a bit stuck, but I will beat that game.  In Zuma I’ve beaten the game twice,and halfway through it for the third time.  Bejeweled blitz I don’t play as often but on my DS lite, I am on like level 70 or something.   I love tetris and any game that has to do with Tetris.  I used to love playing Mario party and the Mario sports games.  However with my eye sight it is difficult to play video or computer games.  If the graphics are not too  bright or detailed then I can do somewhat okay.  My husband and brother in law, Isaac are amazing at games and they both put me to shame. LOL.  However I do play for fun, but I am a bit competitive .   I like to prove to people that I can do just as well as they can even though I am legally blind.  Just out of curiosity, for those who are visually impaired what games do you enjoy playing most?  I also love playing card games.  My friend Henry taught me how to play several games and my most favorite is Hearts, Crates, and Barbou.  I also like to play Bridge, but that is a tough one on the eyes because you are not suppose to talk during the game. Luckily when we all play we don’t play that way or else I would be in trouble.  I am thankful they are so patient.
